Grand Archive – Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 31, 2026
Grand Archive is a personal film-catalogue app for Android. This policy explains what the app does with
your information.
What the app stores
Your films, wishlist, viewing diary (dates, ratings, attention level and notes), barcodes you link to films,
and cover photos you take are stored only on your phone, in the app's private storage. Android's cloud
backup is turned off for the app. The developer has no server and never receives this information.
When the app goes online
The app connects to the internet only when you ask it to:
- Film lookups: when you search for a title, paste an ID, refresh a film's details, or ask for similar
films, the app sends that search text or ID to Wikipedia and Wikidata (Wikimedia Foundation) and downloads
the film's details and poster. Your collection is not sent.
- Google Sheet backup (optional): if you connect a Google account, the app creates one spreadsheet named
"Grand Archive" in your Google Drive and keeps it up to date with your films, wishlist and viewing diary,
including diary notes. The app requests only the "drive.file" permission, which lets it see and edit only
files it created. It cannot see any other files in your Drive. The spreadsheet belongs to you, in your
account, under Google's privacy policy.
An Offline switch in the app stops all of the above.
Things the app never does
It doesn't collect analytics, show ads, track your location, or share or sell information to anyone.
Barcodes and photos are processed on the phone and never uploaded.
Google user data
Data obtained through Google APIs is used only to keep your own spreadsheet up to date, as described above.
It is not transferred to anyone else, not used for advertising, and not read by humans. Grand Archive's use
of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the
Limited Use requirements.
Your control
You can disconnect the Google Sheet in the app at any time, remove the app's access at
myaccount.google.com/permissions, delete the spreadsheet from your Drive, or delete the app to remove all
data stored on the phone.
